I have had one of these fans on my 746pro for two years now. The fan is rated at 7. This fan is added to the transceiver without even removing any covers.

When used, warm air is drawn from the cabinet and cooler air enters the cabinet through the slots in the top cover just behind the numeric keypad and other slots on the rear panel. I feel a lot better with that fan running.

This fan can only be used if the tuner control socket is not used. 08a at 12 volts and runs at all times that the transceiver is turned on. It is a small 12 volt fan that turns on and off with the radio. There are several components that have thermal issues in both radios that will benefit from constant air circulation.

This is an accessory for the 746 and 746pro.

The second picture shows the fan removed. The fan is reasonably quiet.

The fan can be removed at anytime simply by pulling it off of the connector. The fan offered here will function the same on both variants of the ic 746, pro and non pro. It mounts on and is electrically connected to the tuner control socket on the back of the radio and draws air out of the cabinet. Contests and net control stations will particularly find the fan valuable in cooling the radio.

It does not modify the radio. Easy to install, easy to remove.

If the radio is nested in a console with poor ventilation and other sources of heat, the fan is highly recommended. The first picture shows the fan installed. The legal risk would be on me, not you. Like all fans related to radio equipment, this one can be heard but it is not annoying.
